Not sure if I believe this, the characters were pretty detailed when showing a few in the environment. Unless when they have more they will be lower detailed characters.
gamers and movie watchers will have benefitted for years before either has it plug pulled.
I wonder if either will catch on over the long run. HD DVD player sales have been pathetic and blu-ray players even more pathetic (not shocking at 2x the price, but that changes come November) so far, but it is still early.

lol, MS said that would be the case just as they said the HDD would be standard. However neither is true.\
sadly the HD-DVD add-on isn't functional by itself, it takes much more than $199 (speculated price) to play HD-DVD. If that $199 price is true it will actually be more than a PS3 to watch movies in HD. Unless of course MS does a price drop on the consoles.
I doesn't matter what format a person favors, what you said is exactly the reality of the situation.
I plan on having both as that is the only way to have access to all the movies I want (same with gamin ;) )

I'm still very concerned about the audio aspects, without analog outputs or HDMI it can not do lossless audio, meaning it is crippled in that area. Also if ICT is implemented that would cause major resentment.

Keepn in mind the CORE xbox360 does not do HD resolutions out of the box. Yes, it can do HD-DVD's but it will be 480i. You will need to also have a component or VGA cable ($39.99 MSRP each for the MS brand).
I hope it's true, but this is quite the opposite of the UK pricing mentioned a few days ago of 199 GBP ($371). Either way it does not guarantee a U.S. price, which is what matters to me, living in the U.S.
Also, HDMI is a big questions still.
I probably will rent it as I have a hard time getting into MGS games. Maybe it will be more enjoyable than the last two for me. Nice eye candy
